Results:

As a Police Officer, building and sustaining relationships with the community and stakeholders is critical to achieving customer-focused outcomes. In my role within a specialised investigation unit targeting property crime, I have been actively engaging with the community to promote security and prevent unlawful entries at local businesses and residences.

For example, I engaged with a business owner who had been repeatedly targeted by offenders. Seeking feedback from stakeholders, I initiated discussions to explore potential avenues for prevention. As a result, we identified strategies to mitigate further criminal activity at the establishment. On consultation with the stakeholder, it became evident that the implementation of security measures, such as roller shutters, was being considered. In response, I provided information regarding available financial grants from governmental sources.

Additionally, stakeholders highlighted the absence of CCTV coverage, and I was able to arrange for a mobile Police CCTV unit to be deployed to the area. Monitored by Police CCTV Operators, this reduced unlawful entries into the business premises and acted as a visible deterrent, contributing to the overall decline in criminal activity in the area.

As part of Operation Mustard, a major crime operation investigating the disappearance of Joam Briggs, I contributed to the investigation for approximately six months. My responsibilities included obtaining statements, collecting, and reviewing CCTV footage, conducting door knocks and arranging for the execution of an interstate search warrant. To this day, it remains the largest investigation in which I have participated. I am proud to have been part of the team that helped bring Joe Smith to justice for Brigg's murder. Strike Force Junior, a unit that I am currently attached to, was awarded the Commissioner's Group Commendation for its outstanding performance in investigations of property crime and recidivist offenders, leading to the reduction of crime.

As a Police Officer, I have demonstrated my commitment to outcomes, for example I was asked to provide evidence in the Supreme Court regarding a person who had been charged with possess trafficable quantity of schedule 2 dangerous drug in a public place. The defendant had made admissions to the offending, which was captured on Police body worn footage, but the Defence were alleging that the defendant did not understand the caution provided by the Police.

In this situation, I was accountable for the execution and quality of my evidence in court, ensuring that my testimony was professional and transparent. My evidence in court was critical to the outcome of the case and I provided clear, concise, and professional testimony that outlined the section 140 Police Administration Act caution provided to the defendant, and his understanding of the caution at the commencement of the electronic record of interview. As a result, I established that the defendant did indeed understand the caution, and that his admissions were admissible in court. As a result, the defendant was sentenced to three months imprisonment.

Accountability:

As a Police Officer, maintaining a high standard of practice through risk management is critical to ensure public trust and confidence. While working in a remote community, my partner and I were confronted with a situation that required risk management skills to ensure community safety. An unlawful entry occurred overnight at the Recreational Club where alcohol was stolen, and later reports came in that the offenders were now intoxicated and fighting at the Community. When we arrived on the scene, one of the offenders was armed with a spear and posed a significant threat to public safety. We made critical decisions while keeping in mind the remote location of the community and the limited backup available. We had to take cover to ensure our safety while trying to engage the offender in conversation.

Instead of trying to arrest the offender at the time, my partner and I engaged community elders to disarm the offender and ensure community safety. We arranged for the offender to hand himself in the following day, and we remained in the community overnight to ensure community safety. I was able to apply critical thinking and make sound decisions to ensure community safety while avoiding further hostilities and community unrest.

I also offer experience as a Surveillance Operator at Sunland Casino which involved advanced surveillance equipment, such as CCTV cameras and audio recording devices, to gather evidence and identify suspects. The role also required strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work closely with law enforcement agencies to coordinate investigations and gather evidence. Whilst working at Sunland Casino as a Surveillance Operator, I was responsible for monitoring the casino floor, ensuring compliance with gaming regulations and investigating incidents that may have occurred.

During one investigation, I was tasked with reviewing discrepancies in a float from one of the bars. This involved utilising CCTV footage and paperwork associated with the till to identify any irregularities. After conducting a thorough review over an extended period, I was able to identify a staff member who had been stealing money from the organisation. Through my investigation, I discovered that the staff member was not inputting the correct order into the till and then keeping the difference for themselves. I compiled all the available evidence and reported my findings through our incident report system, which was then reported to Management and Gaming and Licencing. It taught me how to effectively communicate my findings and recommendations to senior management and regulatory bodies.

As Acting Sergeant, I responded to a situation where a practical joke played by one team member on another resulted in significant tension and potential escalation within the workplace. The offended party saw the incident as unprofessional and expressed a desire to escalate the matter further. Recognising the importance of addressing conflicts to maintain a productive work environment, I intervened to mediate the situation. As Acting Sergeant, I facilitated open communication between the involved parties, allowing each to express their concerns in a respectful manner. Through active listening both parties found common ground and the conflict was resolve at a supervisory level, fostering a culture of respect and professionalism within the workplace.

Thank you for considering my application. In previous roles, I have successfully developed and implemented programs aimed at improving road usage, enhancing road safety measures, and protecting critical road infrastructure. My experience in planning and executing comprehensive vehicle inspection programs, audits, and investigations has equipped me with the strategic insight and operational acumen necessary to drive tangible results. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to discuss how my qualifications and experiences align with the needs of your department. I am available at your earliest convenience for an interview.

Sincerely

A Client
