Demonstrates Sound Governance Selection Criteria Example:

As a produce manager, I was responsible for managing the departmental budget, which encompassed various factors such as wages, gross profit dollars, and gross profit percentage. While no specific budget was allocated for expenditure, I understood the delicate balance required to optimise our financial performance.

Essentially, the amount of stock ordered and maintained directly impacted our gross profit percentage, apart from the wage budget, which was predetermined every week, depending on seasonal fluctuations. To effectively manage our inventory and ensure profitability, I relied heavily on sales reports from previous years. These reports provided valuable insights into product performance, allowing me to project sales increases and order sufficient stock without overstocking, which could negatively impact our gross profit percentage. This allowed us to meet or exceed our percentage budget and drive profitability within the department.

Fosters Healthy and Inclusive Workplaces Selection Criteria Example:

I encountered a potentially catastrophic near-miss incident in another role at Smith Pipe. A driver was positioned beside a trailer, obscured from the loader's view. Without warning, a 5-ton pipe began to roll off the truck, dangerously close to hitting the driver. In a split-second decision, I shouted, alerting the driver to the imminent danger. Thankfully, the driver reacted quickly, diving under the trailer just in time, narrowly escaping injury by millimetres.

Recognising the severity of the incident, I reported the near miss to the Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WHSO). Together, we collaborated to devise a comprehensive plan to prevent similar incidents in the future. This involved reorganising the yard layout to facilitate safer loading procedures, implementing radio communication systems for all loaders, and instituting a protocol requiring staff to seek permission before entering loading areas. Following the implementation of these safety measures, no further injuries or incidents were reported, demonstrating the effectiveness of proactive safety measures in mitigating workplace hazards and ensuring the well-being of all employees involved.
