Get The Job Challenge: Make Sure Your Job Is The Right One For You

Read through the following questions and work out if the job is the right one for you.

Is travel important to you? Domestic or International? Local or Interstate?

  1. Do you need flexibility to cater for small children, pets, ill relatives?

  2. How many holidays do you need every year?

  3. Is routine important to you, or do you thrive on shift work?

  4. What is the minimum amount of money you need to make?

  5. What amount of money do you want to make?

  6. Is a fly In/fly out role suitable? Can you work away from home?

  7. How long can you work away from home for?

  8. Do you need weekends off?



  1. Can you work night shift?

  2. Are you able to handle being on call? (Note: Usually this means you can’t be over the legal drinking limit for the whole time you are on call, so if you like to get tipsy every weekend, this is probably going to make you tear your hair out.)

  3. Can you start work at short notice, or do you need set hours?

  4. Do you need sick leave and all the benefits that come with full time?

  5. Do you like working with people?

  6. Can you handle working with small children?

  7. Do loud noises bug you?

  8. Are you okay with wearing a uniform?

  9. Are you cool with being supervised by others?

  10. Do you need to be the boss?

  11. Do you prefer to work alone or with a team?



  1. Do you prefer to work with large or small teams?

  2. Do you prefer to work indoors or outdoors?

  3. Do you mind getting dirty?

  4. Do you need constant stimulation, or do you prefer routine?

  5. Are you good with numbers?

  6. Does reading give you a headache?

  7. Are you cool with having conditions attached to your private life? For example, in some occupations it would be considered inappropriate to be seen dancing naked on a table on a Friday night, in others no one would bat an eyelid.
